About
Dedreamki is a creative studio run by me, Carmen (1998), an artist from the countryside of the Netherlands. After graduating from graphic design at Artez in Arnhem, I was forced to take a break.
Psalms 18:28 "For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; The Lord my God illumines my darkness." (Amplified Bible)

At first it felt like a burden, but after long walks and cycling routes became a daily routine, it felt like I was given an opportunity. My life took a slower pace. Since I was taking similar routes every day I saw the seasons change day by day and it gave me a fascination for the small changes you can see in nature. I’ve always loved light and the way it interacts with objects, now I was taking time to see it around me as well. Both these interests are a big part of my inspiration for my work.
In my jewellery I’m taking things from nature (pearls and stones) and make them interact with light. The designs are often inspired by moments I enjoyed in nature or highlights of every season. Because how wonderful are the things like the way the sun reflects on wobbly water on a hot summer’s day (Inspiration for “sun glitter”)? We should look for them more often and help ourselves take a rest. It’s my goal to make jewellery of good quality but at affordable prices. Therefore I use stainless steel.
My prints are mostly inspired by drinks and desserts. Since their ingredients come out of nature, I look at pictures and old botanic drawings of the way they grow. Sometimes I get to incorporate these details in my designs. Like the many flowers I paint which blossom before the fruit is grown. I also love to look at art nouveau examples in mostly architecture and tiles. These shapes and patterns inspire me to create my own. This influence is mostly visible in the later prints I’ve made (probably not online yet)
I’ve loved to create things ever since I was little, and when some dreams were forced to a stop, I got the opportunity to attend art school and explore this big side of me. I still love and want to learn many new techniques and how to use different materials, therefore (even though for now the core is prints and jewellery) it’s always a surprise what new product might be launched next.
