Back when matcha was hard to find in the Netherlands I would sometimes make my own matcha-flavoured desserts at home. This design is one of my earliest paintings and I remember imagining the perfect matcha I could find. I don't know how jellied matcha cubes fit into that image, but somehow it did back then...

People sometimes assume these paintings are made digitally because of their symmetry, but they are not! Each design is created by hand using pencil, ruler and compass. For many paintings I also make my own stencils to help achieve symmetry, but as everything is handmade, small imperfections remain visible on closer inspection. The charm of handmade art!
